If youre driving and going on i10. Go through Balmorhea and go to Balmorhea state park. There is the biggest natural swimming pool in the country there. Also Probs everything is closed due to covid.
If its a weekend thing, check out Big Bend NP. It might not be too hot right now, but I think they had Fires recently.
ALSO there is an amazing thrift shop in Ft Davis. Also a good old timey 'cowboy hotel'
TBH there isnt much in Alpine.
