I'm getting ready to politically hibernate, too.
It's a lot. Overwhelming. Shocking to realize that people are cheering this on and even through everything he's said, still has voters. Everyday he says something vile and everyday you think, that's finally it, he's going to lose support. But the race is still close (according to the polls) and I can't wrap my head around it.
At least Mussolini & Hitler weren't elected into the highest positions while spewing all that hate π
These are the people who jeered at and spit on little Black girls who were just trying to go to school. These are the people who participated in lynchings. These are the people who supported experimenting on Jewish people, and twins, and the mentally disabled. They are the people who smiled when "undesirables" were gassed. These are the people who turned in their neighbors to the military police for being "others".
Of course they loved this.
I keep getting gut punched because I had so much more faith in humanity as a whole. The right keeps telling me how "not all conservatives are racist & authoritarian", but if they're willing to vote for this, they are. No promise of more money in your pocket, esp when they've been proven to be lies, should supercede this.
If you're at a rally with Nazis and you don't kick them out, or leave, you're a Nazi.

@ExecutiveFunction404 @Agatha @Bix Well, I'd say it's technically true that not all conservatives are racist and authoritarian (at least not anywhere close to as much as the so-called "MAGA" movement)... the ones who aren't are the same ones doing what Liz Cheney and Dick Cheney are doing now - despite holding hard-right political views and historically being Republican hardliners, supporting and endorsing the Democrats in this election.
Oh, for sure! That's why I added the caveat that they are if they're willing to still vote for his & his hatred. Even if they aren't voting because of the rhetoric, they're still endorsing it with their vote.

That's my point. The last two presidential election polls were wrong about republican participation & support for trump. Biden was overestimated.
Now the polls are even closer than the past two years. I hope it's due to weighting the scores red in an attempt to correct for the last two cycles.
