IMO, #Trump can only win if enough of the press sanewashes for him until election day.
That's not why they will be mad if they lose.
The game here is simple. They HAVE to win. If they win democracy is done. They won't have to do this dance again.
If they lose, THEY are done. There isn't a person out there feral enough to rally the base to vote against their own interests. They have to get their own voters angry enough at brown and trans people to not notice their social services have been eliminated.
DeathSantis, Rubio, Scott or Haley just don't bring that element.
