What this campaign has shown is that the unfiltered "Let Trump be Trump" is a toxic stew of bigotry, xenophobia, anti-semitism, misogyny, and racism coupled with promises to use the levers of government to silence dissent, prosecute his foes, and reward his allies. Media shrugs.

There's just never been a campaign like this where literally everything they say is based on lies. And not just like misrepresentations, but up is down/ black is white lies. And it's just completely treated normally by the political media.
