My "roommate" just told me she will vote for DeSatan for president,, because he's banning "smut" being read by grade schoolers & CRT in schools (which she says teaches that everyone's always racist).

She is so up her own ass, I can't talk to her.

And she thinks Trudeau & Zelenskyy are dictators.

I don't know where she gets her "news," but I'm pretty sure it's from some RWNJ sources that are the very definition of FAKE that is made about actual critical news sources.

Fuck These Stupid People!

I worry for the future of the USA

Logic, critical thinking, & vetting information sources should be taught in grade school.

Instead, we have people thinking crazy bullshit!

I can't even talk to her, because when I say that's RW BS, she just says I read/watch LW BS.

It's just a circular argument with her. ARGH!!!!!!

How do I even talk to or argue with people like THIS???

I REALLY would like to know, because it always ends up in a fight & with me leaving.

She thinks she is right. I KNOW she is not.

Banning books & leading with hate & fear is NOT THE FUCKING WAY!

How do you explain this so people will understand? FFS!!

I love all your ideas, but the best I can do is to just disengage, because all I end up doing is playing devil's advocate in a bad way. It's freaking ridiculous, the BS she believes. I can't talk to her, because it always ends up being a "I'm right" "No, I'm right" fight.

@Astartiel

I get a "Flash Briefing" when I awake from my Alexa. One of the short headlines was about a group that wants the bible banned from their school & public library because of all of the pornography in it.

I'm sure the story would be searchable. That kind of thing might wake them up to reality!

@POOetryma @Astartiel

Thanks for finding & posting the source of this information!

Karma for the book banners!

@Astartiel focus on facts. When someone says the "smut" ask them for examples, specifics...they can't give anything specific because they are lemmings.

@Concernedabouteverything16 @Astartiel By "smut," critics are referring to any material that mentions, describes, or refers to sex or human sexuality, especially any non-standard sexual identity, orientation, or acts. The Bible, it seems, is exempt from this categorization and demonization, despite the fact that it describes and promotes incest multiple times. See Genesis 1, 2, 6 & 19, and 1 Corinthians 7:36-38, et al.

@Astartiel I fully understand and share your frustration, but there is actually a method for dealing with such nitwits. You're trying to take her head-on. All that does is make her defensive, so she won't listen to you. Instead, try acknowledging that she may have real concerns. Let her voice her concerns in a CIVIL manner, then CALMLY point out what's right about her statements and then point out what's incorrect. Use that word, not "wrong," as "incorrect is a bit less threatening.
...

@Astartiel As you point out the errors, calmly point out why her idea is not correct (use this wording).

Ask her where she gets her information. Don't judge her (or give the impression you're doing so), just politely, calmly point out the facts as you know them and your sources for these facts, like federal gov't websites or documents that she can review herself. Do all of this in a calm, civil, non-judgemental, non-threatening manner. She may not agree, but she'll listen longer.

@Astartiel You may want to predicate all this by establishing a baseline for truth. Tell her something you both know to be true and ask her if she agrees it's true. Do this a couple of times, then tell her something many people think is true, but isn't. Point out why it's not true and tell her what is. Now that you've established that you are attempting to give her true, factual information, she may be more inclined to hear you out. The key is to build trust. Difficult, but probably doable.

@Astartiel

I think this is the best scenario. She sounds a lot like my mom and I've learned to either say, "Mom, I'm not going to discuss this with you." Or a lot of times I'll just hmm and haw or say something like, "Oh, ok."

The trick, so-to-speak, is to not take her issues personally. She doesn't give a rat's ass how you feel so don't give a rat's ass how she feels.

And, as soon as possible, move out.
Good luck! ♥️

@see_the_sus I've got $2 to my name right now, so I'm stuck here. I keep dreaming of moving (someplace warmer & more liberal, like Cali), but I have trouble making & keeping that green money stuff.

@Astartiel

That's why I said as soon as possible. If that means a year from now, then a year from now. If you can, try to put $10 into your savings account every month. I know how difficult this sounds cause I've never made much money but I've found that my mood improves when I stash money away. It helps me feel like I have some control over my life.

@Astartiel it's like dealing with narcissism tactics: don't engage. No emotion. Short phrases or one word responses. The shit works. She's going to feed off your energy and you're not going to change her mind much like everyone across the country much to my disappointment, its going to take time. Anyway, stonewalling, Grey rocking. Check out those terms. See if that helps chill things out.

@Astartiel i can't even imagine what that's like for you , I'm so sorry your in this position 💔 Beau of the fifth column on you tube has put out a few videos on this topic , I think they may help you out!
