Attended a memorial tribute for my high school classmate, Mari Steed, yesterday. Mari's footprint on this planet was enormous. There are real heroes on this planet. Mari was one of them. She came to America in the early 60s carrying the doll in this picture. She went out wearing the hat with honor. Part of her story is linked.
Gártha my dear friend.

I’m sorry for your loss.
what an amazing story, that’s really great she got to meet her mother, and, expose them like that. ♥️ @altucker
“The Woman Who Exposed Ireland’s Magdalene Laundries
Mari Steed was two years old when she was adopted from Ireland by a Flourtown family. Years later, her search for her birth mother turned up the Magdalene Laundries' horrifying legacy, and Steed wants justice—along with an apology from the Catholic church.“
what a truly beautiful and reverberating legacy ♥️ That is amazing. I hope they create a monument for her!!
(on a personal note, I was taken from my birthmom when I was three months old. That part of Her story resonates quite a bit, and in fact, her experience meeting her mother was a lot similar to mine, minus the hugging with crying lol) @altucker
@Armchaircouch when the real person that was Philomena Lee testified before Congress about the Mother Baby Homes in Ireland, Mari Steed held her hand and also testified. She has inspired and helped close gaps for hundreds of mothers and their babies. They continue her life's work.
