my daughter convinced me that itโs possible they all just flew away. The one that flew away on Tuesday still had the crazy fur on his head, so even though the three remaining did, also, itโs still conceivable they could also fly.
here is the Tuesday video, shortly before one of them took flight.

@Armchaircouch what type of bird were they? Fledglings are about 2 weeks old when they start to venture out ๐๐ฅ
I think based on the color of the red dad and the brown mom, they are house finches, so they can fly between 12-15 days-ish. I first saw the babies at April 22, so they were probably born around the 20th.
soโฆ right around the time to fly is nowโฆ @Valkyrie_D
@Armchaircouch Finches are highly territorial birds. There is a good chance they are protecting their nest. If youโve never seen a finch destroy another finchโs nest, itโs quite violent.
lol! crazy ass birdsโฆ These were just raising their babes, never a territory dispute, but thatโs good to know! @misslovelymess @Valkyrie_D
Oh my gosh!!
๐ฉ๐ฉ
well that is upsetting, especially because I watched these two parents build their nest and he fed her for weeks before their babies were born, and then they both tended them. It was very cute! @misslovelymess @Valkyrie_D
lol! totally lmao @misslovelymess @Valkyrie_D
@Armchaircouch I adored watching the wrens that nested in our boxes pre-Lola. There are two houses next to each other, the male makes two nests (one in each) and then the female comes to inspect and decide which one is acceptable to her standards. And then he hangs in the other one to guard and give her space. I miss Mr. & Mrs Chubbs. They stop by to say hello early in the season, but no longer nest there. Because Lola.
wow! thatโs amazing!! and so cute!!
aw sweet Lola though, lol @misslovelymess @Valkyrie_D
@Armchaircouch You think you know your neighbors, am I right? ๐
