Friday before a holiday weekend is always bad for traffic. I'm thankful I'm allowed to work from home on a day like today. Looks like rush hour started "early" today, and is not likely to end until well into the evening.
Yes, that's right, all day.
*sips some more coffee and goes through a few administrative tasks*
Work and avoid unnecessary stress.
If you do have to be on the road today, bring your patience with you. Find your calm center. Other people will not. Plan accordingly for things up to twice as long to get somewhere.
And really, if you can avoid going significant distance, consider just not going. It may seem like just one less car on the road, but even that can be helpful...and keep you safe.
