Over here in Canada, and a few other places in the world, we have declared the Proud Boys to be a terrorist organization. The US should give it a try. You are already living the reality, now say it out loud!
@AnitaLL Honestly I can't stand why the US is refraining from declaring it as a domestic terrorist organization. Right now, the Proud Boys are emboldened. I suspected that they will do the worst things that we won't expect. Even Tim McVeigh would smile from his grave.

@AnitaLL we don't even have a domestic terrorism statute on the books yet, because such instances until now have been few and far between.
That right there makes labelling such groups like that as terrorists difficult.
@Darkenyght1701 I find it amazing that there is so much resistance to stopping the inevitable escalation. There are useful tools in the hands of people who would sit back and let everything burn to the ground. It is disheartening.
@AnitaLL it doesn't help that we can't even come to a concensus as to what constitutes " hate speech".
We are starting to discover that the " right to free speech" is a double edged sword.
Legally, LE can't even monitor these groups because the prior administration did away with the FBI division whose mandate was to do just that.
@Darkenyght1701 It seems like that should be an easy problem to fix if only there was a will to get it done. I think FBI leans hard right on average, which doesn't help.
@AnitaLL it doesn't help that members of the GQP were calling for the FBI to be " defunded" during the runup to the midterms.
Is the FBI conservative? Meh....they try to keep their personal beliefs separate from their work, but it isn't always easy
@Darkenyght1701 Defunding the FBI because they aren't right wing enough is a lot like calling media leftist because the corporations that own them need to be pushed harder to the right. All of it stinks.
I am jaded where the FBI is concerned. I want them to come to the rescue, but I have decades of disappointment, I am wiping the mist off my rose-colored glasses.

@AnitaLL Seriously. And Europe has already told Elon Musk they will ban Twitter because of the spreading of hate speech there. Why doesn't the U.S. do the same? Shaking my head.
@doctordk The first amendment has been twisted to allow incitement. It shouldn't be that way.
@IanG_Richardson It's that horror movie, we are all trapped on the train tracks and there are two trains coming at us in slow motion and it looks like we can do nothing but wait. Effin messed up.
@AnitaLL Legislation needs to be adapted and passed as to "national terrorist" It is the main reason the FBI has trouble with arresting these folks. AOC has tried to address this particular problem and it feels like no one is listening.
