@northernbassist The chord progression for Hallelujah is in the friggin' lyrics!
@stueytheround @northernbassist
Key doesn't matter.
It does baffle the king though.
“This world is full of conflicts and full of things that cannot be reconciled. But there are moments when we can… reconcile and embrace the whole mess"
@Animeraider He still doesn't tell you the chords. Which is the point, after all. The folk googling the chords are trying to learn to play it, and the majority won't have the music theory background to work it out from the lyrics.
Do you think most folk know what a major lift is?
@stueytheround @northernbassist
There we go. I'm a stinker, ain't I? ^_^
I wonder how many people have tried it though. Hell, I did the first time and laughed at my own stupidity.
I have a thing for self-referential songs. This and "Hook" by Blues Traveler.
Like most people, the first time I heard this song was Jeff Buckley's version but that version led me to Cohen himself, so I am grateful for it.
It's not my favorite Cohen song, but there's no denying the mastery of lyrics.
@Animeraider Oooh you trolled me! How dare thee? 🤣🤣🤣
@Animeraider Not really.
Now, I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do ya?
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
No actual chords or even the key gets a mention.
