Good morning to the CoSos rising with me, and good night to those who will soon go to bed. It is a grey, misty day, and I am in the mood to write dramatic scenes. I've been thinking of writing Gothic horror for a while now. I may start.
@MisterE It took me years to figure it out, but in the end, I write fiction as I do non-fiction. I write the blurb first, which is a brief on the story. As a journalist, I pitch stories the same way. I have to have the hook up front. Otherwise, there's no story.
@MisterE I think of the key chain of events that lead to that conclusion, I get into my characters' heads, then I just start writing. It's often a battle to get characters back on track to the conclusion when they add complications, but that's the fun part. π
@MisterE Then, I edit the story as a reader, ensuring I don't have loose ends. I edit the story again, as an editor, to ensure it's in a good form to submit to my publishers. Then they edit it and find some things I should improve, and I do that. The rest is up to the readers. I do consider reader feedback as I plan new stories.
@AmaryllisLanza That is exactly what I was curious about, Ama. Thanks!
@MisterE My pleasure! I'm glad I was able to share something useful. π
@AmaryllisLanza Morning π Good luck with the gothic horror.
@AmaryllisLanza What is your process of writing?
