@Jezibaba @scottronaut I remember the avocados in one of my back yards in Florida were bigger than the mangoes, larger than a baby's head. They had soft glossy skin, too. I'm not sure what breed those are, but they were wonderful.
@Jezibaba @scottronaut Possibly, though I believe there's also a problem with not wanting to accidentally ship different types of fruit flies into California from Florida. I can only get the smaller variety of avocados here in Denmark also. They ship from Mexico, Columbia, Costa Rica and other places. I don't know if the Florida ones are exported anywhere. It's a shame because they're not just bigger but meatier and creamier, with a lovely flavor as I recall.
@AmaryllisLanza @scottronaut so now I'm guessing that the smaller varieties are easier to ship and that's why the diversity of larger avocado's aren't available for purchase. Well, poo.
