A letter to the editor usually has a very short word limit. You can contact them about what their requirements are for guest columnists, which can be longer.
Some things can't be short. You have to educate people about basic issues before you can express an opinion sometimes.
@AlphaCentauri yeah and we have this extra headache. I sit down with him and the others and try to say what they’re saying, including whatever they feel is important and that is a lot! This could be edited down but we have so much to explain.
