I am pro life.
I am fiscally conservative.
I have not been a republican since "voodoo economics" became the party platform. Sorry, Reagan fans.
I can no longer even split my ticket, because I doubt the patriotism of anyone who still runs on the Republican ticket.

The Republican party has done more to make me and my fellow voters from Catholic families realize that no matter what our hopes for America are, having the government insert itself into reproductive decisions -- especially by legislators who are proud to say they've never had any kind of sex education -- is fucking crazy.

We may secretly wish the "wrong people" stop having so many children, and we may wish people have more respect for the fetuses that are already expressing their personalities within their mother's wombs.

But the government needs to stay the fuck out of the discussion

We have home pregnancy tests! We have internet pharmacies!

There is no way to stop abortion without absurdly invasive laws.

We don't want cops arresting women trying to cross state borders. We don't want women being required to return their home pregnancy tests to have the results logged in a government database. We don't want doctors afraid of going to jail if the fetus dies, but not if the mother dies.

I am pro life, but I want to change hearts, not laws.

And the GOP is the worst enemy to that goal.
