That's nice he was able to save the deer. But just in case anyone faces that situation, do not attempt to remove an arrow or other penetrating object in the field. Leave it in, or cut off the protruding part, but let the vet (or ER doctor if it's a human) remove it in a place where the bleeding can be controlled.

When people fall on fences and impale themselves, the whole fence pole goes to the ER with them.
