Please please share any diet tips for one chubby cat in a 3 cat household. They measure horses in "hands" and Spence is 2.5 hands wide.

@Alohakim18 feed them all in separate rooms at the same time and don’t leave uneaten portions laying around. My fattie will eat the leftovers of the skinnies if I leave them out. Fatty whines all the time between meals and i ignore him.

@Amyfb this is my exact life! Spence literally whines ALL day.

@Alohakim18 I whine right back at my Smoodge (the fatty). Eventually he wanders off and takes a nap for a while before starting up again. Occasionally I can distract him with a nice brush down, or a wrestle with his catnip toy.

I remember how much I whine when I'm on a diet, and it helps a little to tolerate his grumpiness.

@Amyfb ok, it makes me feel better that you have similar challenges, lol. I do the catnip redirect, I open the door to the forbidden room and will grab a toy to wave around in the background while on a teams meeting. I'll keep the faith!

@Alohakim18 Hi, Kim. There is food you can buy for overweight cats. What i have done is limit treats/canned food and only given the recommended amount per day. That has seemed to work best for us. You can also speak to your vet for advice.

@Zaptrapped I do use that, thanks! I'm going to have to get him to chase after the laser pointer more often. I worry about his health. He's 10 now.

@Alohakim18 is he too chubby to jump up high? My friends feed their cats up on a table so the dog won’t bother them. Maybe your lovable but chubby one could be fed separately that way. I had a chubby cat once who slimmed down when I decided not to refill the bowl until it was completely empty. They never wanted to finish the bowl up. He lost weight but the other cat stayed the same!

@musicalcure I feed them a wet breakfast and dinner and supplement with a weight control dry food. I feed the skinny cat up high so he doesn't shove her out of the way. One is thin, one is regular, and Spence is .......hungry lol

@Alohakim18 all I can offer is to not leave grazing kibble out.
