The meteorologist said there's a flood advisory in our area and that we should seek higher ground. In his next sentence, he warned of possible tornados, for which he advised we should take shelter in a basement or lowest level of our home.

My heightened anxiety doesn't know what to do with this information. 😳

@ADignorantium

Obviously you need to carry your basement to the top of the highest hill in your neighborhood.

@ADignorantium this is why NOAA puts out bulletins on dealing with extreme weather events. you should be aware of areas that might flood in your vicinity, and you should have a tornado, hurricane, flood & wildfire plans in advance.
once you have plans, that should relieve some of your anxiety.
example: i'm currently under flood warning & tornado watch. i know that my house will not flood, so i don't worry about that. we can use the basement for a tornado, but that's also geographically unlikely

@redenigma Our local news covers a tri-state area. The topography varies so I'm somewhat used to mixed messages. I just thought it was humorous that the meteorologist didn't go into detail like usual. Maybe the weather segment was cut short for some reason. Who knows?

Thank you for reaching out, tho. I mean that. ❤️

@ADignorantium the local tv station was saying there was a huge thunderstorm in Raymond, OMG! watch for tornadoes! this morning, & i was sitting here going "but there isn't! no thunder. no lightning. no wind. just heavy rain. there WAS a large thunderstorm in Nashua, but that's nowhere near Raymond...
i ALWAYS check NOAA for the most accurate weather warnings
