Quite an interesting situation at work..

I'm a youth/community worker. I've had a school refer a young person to me. One of the big reasons is for "addiction", primarily to vapes.

Main reason seems to be that they respond aggressively to people taking their calling stuff away.

Kinda questioning rn whether that's a genuine case of addiction or just how their responding to adults taking their shit away.

@66ALW99 I will say nicotine is mood altering in that it definitely calmns. I didn't start smoking until my smoker dad left the family and I was anxious all the time until I started smoking myself.

So probably both.

@Annothername @Annothername lt's definitely mood altering, I don't question that ๐Ÿ™‚

(saying that as someone who started smoking about 35 years ago and switched to vapes in the last 5 or so)

My point is more about how the source of aggressive behaviour is perceived and interpreted.

Is it about their access to nicotine (the chemically addictive stuff in vapes) being taken away, or does it arise from the way they perceive it - their stuff (vaping equipment) being taken away from them?

@66ALW99 it would be both for me! It's definitely a great question to explore with them. And good work (by you) switching off the firey kind!
