@2Echo68Whiskey The other Marine in the picture is one of Chesty's two bodyguards. One of them carried two sawed off Winchester Model 12 shotguns in custom holster, the other carried a Thompson SMG and Puller's own M-1 Carbine.
I don't remember their names off the top of my head but they are both mentioned often in the book Marine! The Life of Chesty Puller - by Burke Davis.
