I get that Costco messed up.
And that people with milk allergies may have somehow not realized that butter is made from milk. But a blanket statement for everybody to toss that butter is just plain wasteful.

Yeah, a blanket recall does seem odd.
But there are def people who don't realize stuff like butter is a milk product ..
We were at a restaurant order counter once. The woman in front of us ordered the steak sandwich. The ingredients below the item title listed all the extra things that were on the sandwich. She was furious when it came because she didn't realize it had meat in it, because that wasn't on the ingredients list below the title, and she was a vegetarian...
