@Dobo - yeah, I thought about using lastpass' otp, but I don't want too many eggs in one basket.
I'm no data security person, far from it, but my brain just burped up a vague notion of running the Authenticator app on some sort of Android virtual machine on a home server and accessing it remotely from your phone.
Because nothing is more fun than a clunky, DIY system with multiple potential points of failure/attack. 😜
Oh wait, I just realized it's *way* easier than that: set up a tablet running only Authenticator, and run a web cam on a RasPi pointed at the tablet.
Then you can just look at the web cam on your phone whenever you need an OTP.
Reset your phone whenever you feel like it, no harm done.
😐 😐 😐
@0x56 +1 vote for Authy, although I believe that LastPass and 1Password have this functionality as well.
I use Authy.
@0x56 Authy
you can have Authy on multiple devices
smartphone and PC/laptop
ideal for this kinda thing imo
@0x56
I haven't used this particular feature of my Keeper password manager yet, but it has it, and Keeper otherwise does a great job of cross-device synchronization, so it survives resets seamlessly.
(Also has family memberships and case-by-case credential sharing, which is why we got it.)
