@XaoslordErie And it's an old piano! She has a whole history before coming to me! I have promised family members that I will not play in the middle of the night when they're all asleep. But I want to!
@frankp I think she meant, "God made all of us, male and female, in his image". But she's a Congresswoman and I'm just a lowly average citizen, so I won't correct her. Because her leaving the commas out actually changes her whole argument and I like that better.
@raspberrypanda I didn't read it until I was almost 30. I wish I had read it earlier, but maybe I wouldn't have appreciated it as much. I love that book! I use the Finch app for daily tasks and self care, and I named my finch Scout, after the main character.
@Siren_six I don't think I'll ever completely get past my dad's death. It's tied up in other things, related to traumas, and just... He's my DAD. There's a lot in that.
I was in therapy a couple of years ago, and the therapist told me most people don't really get past grief like they think they do. They just start ignoring it. She told me not to expect myself to get over it, but be honest with myself about my grief. So I'm passing that advice to you.
@LadyZurk I've heard they're called The Devil's Ivy because they seem to survive everything. Really hoping that'll be true for this one!
@HealingHobbit I suspect they keep promising more than they can really give and it all just keeps falling apart. The programmers are probably even more frustrated with what they have to work with than the rest of us are.
@LiberalLibrarian I think some people want the features without the communities that developed there. But I was there from 2008 until just a few months ago. I saw a lot of it develop from the user point of view. (I mean, I didn't work there, nothing like that.) A lot of people don't realize making something work like Twitter would get you what you're running away from about Twitter.
@desbearado Absolutely! And I imagine that can get wild in that field. But that's when you get into whether or not correlation and causation have anything to do with each other. And I wish more people understood they aren't the exact same thing.
@redgypsee I'm just like, "Yeah...make us take down our linktrees and keep letting scam accounts slide. Can't promise I'll stay to see how that works out."
I just had to remove my linktree from my IG in order to be able to post because, apparently, IG has decided linktree in a profile violates terms regarding what kind of stuff somebody might be linking to?
I just can't even. I don't even have it left in me to be actually angry at this point. I get happy when I see people I like content from moving to Substack. I can follow them there and not fight The Algorithms.
@wolfwoman At least I know I'm not alone in being confused by these things! I was always very good at it in school, and I think that's because of my hyperlexia. Life has taught me "the English language" is misleading. It sometimes feels like there are multiple English languages that are all just very closely related.
Some odd feeling led me back to playing Pokémon GO over the past few days. I played for a couple of weeks when it first came out, but getting out isn't a big option for me and that was limiting in a game like this. Things are a little different now with changes made to the game because of the pandemic.
I'm a little concerned about Team Rocket hot air balloons hovering over our house. That's...yeah, didn't expect that.
@Alfred @SuperDuke I'm thinking Alfred has the golden ticket and doesn't want the rest of us searching.
@wolfwoman Can you explain this? I'm genuinely confused. If I was giving a donation to an organization, I would say "they" need it and I'm giving it to "them". On the other hand, I'm in the US and often see British people say things like, "[Company name] have..." It's confusing for me because I'm used to it being, "[Company name] has..."
#CoSoPagans - Big changes are happening in our house, and my ritual space is growing as part of that. I'm very thankful to have a whole room and not working from "let me just unpack this box here on the table again". I've never let a lack of dedicated space stop me, but having that space changes a lot of things!
@Alfred Thank you! 😄
@Alfred Can you sing "Jingle Bells" in the style of a pirate?
Bard with a ukulele. Friend of Lake Monster. 93% stardust. Autistic. Fabulously weird.
