@voltronic I'd be interested to see the results here.
My phone doesn't have the option but one day I'll have one which does.
@stueytheround
The new one I'm getting this week will be my first that supports it. I always lay my phone in the same place on the nightstand which would be good for a charging pass, but on the other hand I often use my phone while charging and a traditional plug works better there.
@voltronic
Waste of heat, time, energy, and very inefficient.
@corlin
That's very disappointing to hear about heat and efficiency.
@voltronic Most of my chargers are “wireless” now, I’m not overly familiar with the android crop (other than their charging is faster…) but the MagSafe ones for iOS are pretty convenient - sticking right to the back of the phone so you can start charging one handed.
@EnochianEntropy
Yeah I've seen those, and if Android phones supported that magnetic setup it would possibly sway me towards them. AFAIK, it's an Apple-only thing.
@voltronic You should be able to pick up a case that it might work for, but that’s two things you’d need to grab.
@voltronic I have no vote, just an opinion from experience. I tried one once and I found it slow and to be honest, quite scary. It got really hot so I never tried using one again. Could have been a quality issue, but then I don't have money to sink on gadgets.
@voltronic It is especially nice when the plug connection stops working.
Wouldn't it be funny if we learned one day that leaving our phones on top of the microwave did the same thing :)
I too wonder about how full a charge it yields, how fast, and any effects on battery life.
@voltronic
I use one overnight on the stand beside the bed. Otherwise it’s too slow for me otherwise and I use my phone too much to have to wait.
@voltronic I used one several years back. It's slower than plugged and can be a bit particular on positioning, depending on your case/charger combo. Not worth it for me. Neat idea, though.
@voltronic I love them for my iPhone, watches and earbuds. No fiddling with cables and tiny connectors.
