I still find 12ga target loads at Dick's and Wal-Mart, but everything else is pretty scarce or crazy prices.
As far as online, I've only ever bought from Academy.com, which has free shipping on $25+.
i've had luck with gunbroker.com in .357 and .308 over the past six months.

That's sometimes difficult to do, because the NRA offers insurance to ranges and their instructors. Some private ranges require you to be an NRA member.
I am fortunate to have a range very close by with no affiliation and no political crap displayed. That's where I renew my membership each year.

Local NRA branches sometimes support the original NRA mission (gun safety & education), rather than the extremist agenda of the national NRA. You might be able to learn this from asking about what they do. But I know, some of the dues get funneled up to national.
There are quite a few other sorts of shooting clubs, which run events, run or rent ranges, & proprieter-run gun shop ranges.
Check out IDPA. (Example for 1 of many specialist clubs).
FWIW, I can vouch for the statements made on that thread about Brownells, Midway, and Cheaper than dirt, the last of which automatically adds an NRA donation to your order unless you remove it.
