My old work called. Not my company but my customer. They are at wits end because they didn't replace me

@equillink my old company (was contracted by customer) customer did not replaced me, even tho they said they were. My old management is not returning emails regarding this.

So he was going to ask if I could ve "reactivated" lol

I said I'm not going back to corporate ESPECIALLY my old company. But i explained how I need to beere HERE and PRESENT because of my son and mom.

My mom's diagnosis made me "feel" like this was meant to happen bc im needed here.

He asked abt contract work.

@ucantstop_me I remember what you did (seems like a very long time ago.) I am definitely not surprised that your former client is at his/her wit's ends.

@equillink yeah. I was removed from that account in late Nov due to me being out too much leading up to back surgery

Also at this time - we were dealing with that horrible incident with the narcissist. It was one of the most fucked up times we have experienced.

After surgery I interviewed for a lot of gigs. They would get excited but when they learned my salary, they backed off.

I got laid off March 21st after not getting a new gig.

@equillink ^^ problem with getting laid off at 61 is we tend to have higher salaries and accounts don't want to take on that burden woth fierce competition

I'm good with it. I need to be here for snd with my family

@ucantstop_me I have been there - AT&T salaries were hard to match. But it worked out - a bit differently than I had planned, but I did the caregiving bit for several years and it was really good that I did. Mom and I both thought it was good. Now it is just my brother and I which is okay - at least most of the time! ;) I think my Mom was an activist before her time.

@equillink

I said I might consider part time just to run the morning scrums. But not all the other work lol.

The guy(customer) who called me is a friend and confidant. I built that team with some good team members still there. It's like they abandoned the entire network field ops team after I was gone. The two of my guys left can't even take time off

So I would consider a contracted part time role when we get a little further out from mom's diagnosis

Thanks! I hope you are doing well.

@ucantstop_me I can understand why your former clients are upset. I also completely get why you feel you need to be with your family at this time. I recall the times your Mom was in the hospital and you were remodeling your house, too. (I have this unusual memory. I remember most things. That leads to me remembering things most people have forgotten.)

I am doing okay. Just a little older and stiffer. ;)

@equillink let me know when you come up my way again. Maybe we can say hi 💛

@ucantstop_me I will do that. I learned where Brighton, Romeo, and Dryden are this week (looking at floral places.)

I wish you and your family the very best. Stay cool, too !
