@kayleenmeow Felt that way since I started being taught to garden as a kid. 👍🏻
I still need to try growing lemongrass. I can attest that Thai basil is best when plucked fresh from the stem. Home-grown jalapenos add a little more pop, too. Growing it yourself is *really* making it from scratch!
@kayleenmeow I guess I should feel lucky I only have an hour to travel, then!
Making it yourself the way to go, especially if you make your own bone broth. 🤤 Also inspired me to start growing Thai basil.

@Pam4Aruba Food is a hell of a motivator! If you like brisket, you'd like that pho place - they have three different kinds with brisket in it.
You should definitely try it when you get the chance, it's some of the best food I've ever tasted. Pretty healthy, too.
@LnzyHou Getting more common around here. Used to be two restaurants in my little town that served it, both closed but now there's a food truck that serves it from spring to early winter.
Still gotta head out to Knoxville for the real homemade-tasting stuff.
Hate this new phenomenon where, if one side of the political spectrum covers a story, it makes you a traitor if you lean the other way and still care about it.
I get that promoting conspiratorial takes and using pieces of data to form emotional arguments is wrong. But so is basically splitting the truth in half.
Looking past the spin is incredibly easy when you consider your sources and look at facts yourself. You can't let some bad actor with horrible takes on a story kill the actual story.
@see_the_sus Ha, don't give them ideas. Though that does sound less obnoxious than a lot of stuff I see. Anything to keep them distracted from figuring out how to beam ads straight into our dreams, lmao.
@see_the_sus Makes you wonder what they'll switch to when that approach stops working. (If it's even working now?)
Once in a blue moon I'll see an ad that goes, "Hey, this is our product, this is what sets us apart from competitors, and this is how you can buy it," and it's so refreshing I almost feel compelled to buy just to reward them. Still don't, though - screw forced advertising. :-)
@spacesloth It does - I have this borderline neurotic obsession with answering the age-old question "Why?" (or maybe "How?") so I gotta take whatever learning opportunity I can endure, lol.
That deep dive sounds like me whenever I get really into a topic, though I've gotta ask - what was it about studying cosmology that sparked the interest in Epistemology? And did you get any of the answers you were looking for?
@spacesloth "Staying mostly sane" sounds similar to the line I'm towing, ha. Reading could be a nice change, got a few books in the backlog... more history and philosophy, of course. 😂
@Ellis564 Absolutely. It should be a constant door-to-door effort, in my opinion.
