Seems like I’ve read a book based on this premise

@tmbrown327 Are you referring to Origin of Species? "individuals will stay as nonbreeders when there is some ecological constraint..critically, the likelihood of individuals dispersing to breed elsewhere will increase when the ecological constraint is relaxed.."

@JLong I wish I was deep enough to be referencing Darwin. No, I was thinking more science fictiony. :)

@tmbrown327 Oh I'm not either. Never read it through, just the necessary stuff. I was curious if there were other species that stop reproducing because of climate change, so i looked him up.
There are alot apparently

And if the scifi book is recommended, spill the beans.

@JLong Just yesterday I saw a thing about eels. They apparently don't choose what sex they are until they get to their spawning grounds and see how many males/females there are. Then they die, so there's that.

The book I was thinking about is Children of Men. Pretty good, as I remember.

@tmbrown327 Wow, that's what he was talking about i guess. He listed certain fish as well as some insects and reptiles, too. I wouldn't be surprised if in some small way we were also tuned-in to our ecosystems on that same lizard-brain level.
I'll add the book to my list, thanks. I never saw the movie but i've heard it's good.
