Something that never fails to remind me that Japanese games are DESIGNED around a very specific Japanese and also Chinese mentality is when Yoshi P essentially says things like ... "FFXIV is too stress free ..."
They wanted to make the game something that people could jump into and play but he feels it's gone a little too far and is not "stressful" enough.
If people want more stress there is harder, more difficult, more complicated games they can choose to play.
You want to "force" stress?
One of the reasons I stopped playing Kingdom and stopped supporting the developers is because they became this group of people that decided the game was "too easy" and they didn't like "how people were playing it" and decided to make as many changes as possible to make it not only less accessible but also harder and more attractive to hardcore gamers. Kingdom isn't Dark Souls ... it never was that. It was a casual game. When the devs decided they hated how people played it, I was done with them.
Why do people feel that EVERYTHING we do in the world needs to be "stressful" and "difficult" and need to be something that you "prove yourself against"?
Why is it that people seem to believe that absolutely everything we do has to be some kind of competition with another person?
If people wanted that all the time then they would seek it out ...
People game for different reasons.
Why would you want to force people to play a game only one way? Why would you want to "force" stress?
This is why lunatics behind certain games think a PAUSE button indicates weakness. This is why lunatics behind other games are constantly making games LESS ACCESSIBLE to people who are disabled or limited in any kind of way because they won't PAY constantly or PLAY constantly in the way that will bring in the most money. That is why most games are becoming online only PVP only competition only ... and there are less single-player casual experiences.
It's just a different kind of grooming.
