The University of Florida has eliminated all diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) positions at the university.

This move comes after the Florida Board of Governors approved a new rule in January 2024 that 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙤𝙧 𝙛𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙛𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙚, 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙧 𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙨 𝙤𝙧 𝙘𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙪𝙨 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙙𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙧 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙚 𝙤𝙧 𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙥𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙢.

Additionally, a rule was approved that 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚'𝙨 𝙥𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨.

For the love of all that is holy ... white folks are out of their minds and are determined to destroy all minds.

Pay attention.

They have

REMOVED SOCIOLOGY FROM THE CORE COURSE OPTIONS IN FLORIDA PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES

... make sure you read that a few more times so it sinks in.

This is NOT JUST FLORIDA. Other states, emboldened by what Florida is doing, are also working to pass similar laws.

Pay attention.

"Florida's higher education system will 𝙛𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙙, 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝-𝙬𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙟𝙤𝙗𝙨, not woke ideology ..."

I have no idea how anyone can be completely blind to what is going on in this country. They're CHOOSING to not see ... because this shit is BEYOND OBVIOUS ...

@thewebrecluse People believe things because they _want_ to believe them, or fear _not_ believing them.

While some people only want to believe things because they are true, there is nothing inherent to the human brain that makes you have to want to only believe facts and truth.

Same people that yesterday thought the SCOTUS should rule against Trump, are today finding justifications to think the opposite because the judges they identitfy with went along.

Humans suck at truth.

@thewebrecluse I guess I’m a happy, left wing, Sociology major hijacker.

@thewebrecluse they should have studied the sociological effects of banning things like sociology.

@vo1de 🤣 that would make sense if they cared 👍🏾

@thewebrecluse since when have rich white dudes anywhere cared about anything but themselves. This is not new. The community will always respond. They are already teaching black history in the underground where dei was removed.
They are trying to remove it here too, the donors aren't happy and the students have already created personal clubs for studying outside of the universities reach. Humans gonna human.

@thewebrecluse "Kids don't need history, or empathy, or civics, or logic, or rules saying they can't hate people for being different. They need to learn how to serve, and labor, and work!"

@thewebrecluse This is sickening. DeSantis is a straight up Nazi. Thinks Florida is his personal fifedom. I live here and hate it to my bones. Can hardly wait to move.

@thewebrecluse I always thought my willingness to use thermonuclear weapons against "friends" made me unsuitable for public office. I've been reassessing.😈 I don't think Cajoling Joe's "Aw, come on guys!" is gonna cut it anymore.😒

@Marc_T_Benedict There hasn't been much news coverage of this and it happened back in January so I don't think ANYONE really cares, President or otherwise ...

@thewebrecluse Sociology is an awakening. Wage slaves should be protected.

@thewebrecluse welp, that means you slip the concepts in through cultural anthropology, political science, and other unexpected areas. I've been kinda meh about sociology because I've felt that psychology, cultural anthro, and poly sci cover much of the same ground and more effectively.

But I'm also a former political science major, so there's bias.

@thewebrecluse that said, wiping out an entire field of study? WRONG.
However, we have to get sneaky, and I'm encouraged by reports in this thread that DEI is being taught underground.

@thewebrecluse

The implication that theoretical subjects shouldn't be taught in college is absurd, but also insidious.

"We don't want people to learn to think!"

@tyghebright As @gemswinc put it so succinctly a moment ago

"Sociology is an awakening. Wage slaves should be protected."

@thewebrecluse @tyghebright @gemswinc
From Heinlein:
"Secrecy is the keystone to all tyranny. Not force, but secrecy and censorship. When any government or church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, "This you may not read, this you must not know," the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives."
