How do you visualize the history of hip-hop? Or jazz?

The inventive team behind the U.K.-based design studio Dorothy have painstakingly mapped out the history of genre by genre.

Dorothy’s Blueprint series charts the pioneers and greats who transformed rock and roll, jazz, and hip-hop in gilded screen-prints. The trio of metallic designs, plus three more devoted to alternative, electronic, and dance music, are available in the Dorothy shop.

This is way cool. I could spend an hour zooming in on all of the connections. Thank you for sharing.

@BenWalker I am clearing space on a wall for a few of these beautiful pieces of flowing data artwork. It combines so many things I love ... music, data, graphic design, infographics, history ❤️ It's like the most wonderful thing. I can't imagine the time and effort and research that went into each one. I'm glad I could share.

@thewebrecluse Time had one of these back in the late 90s and it ended up on my wall when I was in high school. It was more streamlined but had all the big names. If I remember correctly, Robert Johnson was the godfather of American music and then it went from there. Rap/Hip-Hop to Elvis and The Beatles and more all stemmed from him.
