Very often, poor people make the worst "rich people". I know that's political heresy, but it's true. Many people are bad "rich".
1/2: My sister and I got an offer on the house today, from some local bidnessman landord guy. The house appraised for $155,500, though he didn't know that. He "very generously" offered $125,000, saying property values on these old homes in this market were "pretty sad". I told him I knew who he was, a slumlord, and that he was dead wrong about the property values and told him the problem with home sales in this locale are because landlords buying them up and renting them out... and keeping...
: One of the things I like least about a lot of story franchises is that the mystery, intrigue, and such of the story world goes very much bye-bye after about the second or third installment. The mythic becomes the commonplace, the taken-for-granted merely so a hero can have more than a hero's journey but become essentially a demigod or indeed a god, which is lazy and boring, IMO.
In old tabletop RPGs in day ior yore, we called such stakes-raising "planet-busting"... and "boring" and "lazy.
