: As #Aspies we get accustomed early on in life to getting had. It's practically a gift given to us by evolution. Eventually, if we work on it some, we glean the patterns, down to the minutiae and even smoller. Eye movement, inflection, word choices, (in)consistency, and more *and* how they are play in various situations, and we do it by reflex. We see the needle before we see the haystack.

Yeah, it makes us hard to be around for a lot of people.

: Been retooling the desktop here part of the afternoon and most of the evening. Had a movie run in the background ("The Dark and the Wicked") as well an episode of telly ("Endeavour", S9, E1).

It's the beginning of the end of the year, and so I am gearing up for what I hope will be a productive season of scribblery. Concurrently, I am merely rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic that is my life.

She'd been my therapist since 1998, and in the card received with the book she quipped-asked if I'd ever spoken with Thomas Harris. (I hadn't, but his college roommate was my Philosophy prof and good friend for years.)

She asked because of my six trains, one of which is always just for me.
