: I saw an interesting report earlier today about what's been up with the MSM in re: the RNC, and it basically followed the money, particularly who's signing the paychecks for the journalists, talking heads, and such. Same for some of the key Dems in Congress and their big donors. Always remember the Golden Rule:

He was has the gold makes the rules.

: I get it, though. The age thing was something Reagan got hammered with relentlessly when he was running in 1980. Bill Clinton and Obama were hailed as what they were, i.e., not old men, when they ran for the job. That was why I was so surprised when Biden got trotted back out when the DNC were felt the Dem talent pool in 2014/15 was deficient and nowhere up to the task of beating DJT. Joe was 78(?) when he was brought out of retirement to run, and I was shocked and thought it a bad idea.

: I did, however, firmly believe he was a superior candidate and human being than Sir Syphilis McCombover. That bring us up to now.

Emotionlessly comes the following analysis:

If Joe dies or becomes incapacitated by this run with Covid and necessitates the 25th being invoked (or he resigns for health reasons), then Harris and the Dems would have a far greater chance at winning in November.

If Joe's fine in a few weeks, then the odds stay the same as they are now, and we'll just see. 🤷‍♂️

Follow

: If Joe drop outs and makes way for a Harris ticket, I believe the odds go down for victory for the Dems in November. The Dems will get hammered and second-guessed from all quarters, not because they did the right thing they were asked to but because they admitted weakness and were on their back foot. Trust how people have acted in the past, not what they say now. They always lie, even if they don't think they do.

That said, if Joe stays in and then either dies or resigns after (hopefully)...

: ...winning re-election, there's Harris already there, and she can snag Pete to be Veep... or whoever else. (Pete causes fear in the GOP, both in the Beltway and on-the-air. He throws them around like rag dolls rhetorically.)

I don't just believe that Joe staying in is safer. I believe that his staying in the race is better in the long run. Because it makes not one jot of difference what the alt-white say or think because they can't stand anyone else anyway, and they're actual traitors. So...

: ...if you're damned by them if you do and if you don't, fuck them. Do your thing, and make them fight every step of the way.

@thedisasterautist

Seems like a whole lot of people are the types that don't go home with the one that brung 'em.

In the end, it is Joe and Kamala's call and I've got confidence in them both.

@Cosmichomicide: My reckoning is that they're a) really worried and b) are getting "suggested to" by there donors/employers to "be more circumspect" and to "be realistic" (and say what they are told to say). Not all of them, of course, but many.

Nobody who gets to that level of power and influence does so without "going along to get along" to varying degrees, and at that level one has to honor markers when they're called. It is the nature of "Godfathers" and power brokers.
