: I am a #residentalien, and I do quite like Earth. Next to #doggos, humans are quite my favorite species.
@thedisasterautist I'm less a fan of humans as a species, but as individuals they can be awesome.
@NiveusLepus @thedisasterautist We're still basically just monkeys shitting into our own hands and throwing it at each other. See also: any comments section on the internet.
@ianthealy @NiveusLepus: ...make a speck of difference if we nuke ourselves into the fossil record our own selves. We've done things other species may well have not even been able to dream, like write and perform complex music, escape the planet's gravity, actually cook food, discover small- and large-scale patterns and develop mathematics, and more.
I know it's fashionable AF to piss on Humanity like a drunk yard cat, and I tend to recognize it as an emotional reaction and one that really...
@thedisasterautist @ianthealy You make an excellent point that its a matter of perspective, but this is where it gets tricky.
I think it's that dichotomy that makes it so challenging because the heights humans can reach is astounding, but far to often they act towards the basest elements of their nature.
Sure they can go to the moon, they can, as you said, also relegate themselves to the fossil record, or use artificial systems of scarcity to enfranchise some while disenfranchising most.
@ianthealy @NiveusLepus: ...does not seem to me to be one healthy to hold for any prolonged amount of time. Shitting a lot on one's own species can be seen as and I think often is being too self-effacing. That said, I note that not infrequently it does run very deep with folks, though after that noticing it's a) above my pay-grade and b) not my business.
In re: Humanity as with other things in and about life, I try to keep a balanced view.
