1/2: This excerpt hit home with me when I read it when I was about thirty-eight or thirty-nine. It hit me because that's how my mind worked/works, and when I was a kid I had real trouble with involuntary immediate associations my mind made, no partitions, everything was all together in the same tangle all the time. I didn't learn to manage it or start to, finally, in my late twenties. At 52 now I can see each and every thread in my mind and examine them at will, understanding what they are...
2/2: ...and where they came from and why. I am not divorced from my emotions or my thoughts of my instincts, and I do not nececelery "drive" them all. More aptly, I am the conductor of the train(s) and in charge, usually, of the track switches.
