: I understand this about me and have done for many years. I even give people a heads-up, and they always think I'm kidding or being too self-effacing, at least until later. If I don't keep myself in 3rd gear or sometimes even 2nd, things tend to go south, and I don't take it as any kind of an affront or injustice or whatever. I know I'm wired differently, and I knew long before knowing I was autistic.
