That perfect version of yourself
She is so beautiful
He is so handsome
They are so strong
We work so hard to fit ourselves into that version of how we want to be
But it is never quite right
Too bony
Too short
Not enough
If only we could see us from the perspective of our loved ones
We would be perfect

They say there are
Two wolves inside
And to be careful
Which one you feed,
But both my wolves
Are terrified
And hurt and lonely.
They both need
Love and soothing,
Not abuse,
And I cannot find it
In my heart to
Banish either
To lonely agony.
Perhaps if the lighter one
Was strong from food
It could comfort me.
Perhaps if the darker one
Felt safe instead of threatened
It would not bite so viciously.
