I thought black Milliput would give too much contrast on this carved black limba bowl, but now I'm having serious regrets about the brick color. Wife says it looks great but I think she's trying to make me feel better about it. Going to reserve judgement until final finish but I suspect this one gets chalked up to #woodturning mistakes in the end. Too bad. It was otherwise a very nice piece with a pleasing shape.
My #woodturning inspiration porn these days is Mayuko's channel. It's all segmented turning. His process allows for large hollow forms with completely finished interiors. Every piece is a work of art.
Watching his channel makes me want to do work like that so I made a wedgie sled and a precision miter stop. As soon as I clear my backlog of commissioned work, it's segmenting time!
A hunter bags a few rabbits, field dresses them, and brings them to the butcher on the way home.
Butcher says "By the way, these aren't actually rabbits."
Hunter responds "Now you are just splitting hares."
Speaking of #woodturning and #weed, Carl Jacobson now sells brass threaded inserts. Although these were designed for cremation urns (required in some jurisdictions), apparently it is people making woodturned stash boxes that are driving sales, prompting the addition to two smaller sizes of insert.
Which makes me wonder - if online voting was as easy and reliable as online commerce we'd probably have legalized pot everywhere.

Woke up middle of the night to voices downstairs IN THE HOUSE! Was about to call 911 & remembered I have smart lights. Turned all lights downstairs on. Voices didn't pause, run out of the house, nothing.
WTF?
Went downstairs to discover the Echo device in the kitchen playing some streaming TV show for no reason.
When the adrenaline rush subsides I'm doing an Office Space and destroying the damned thing with a sledgehammer in the back yard.
My hands are so full of wood glue and finish that the fingerprint reader on the laptop won't recognize me.
Good thing I enrolled the prosthetic finger I keep on a shelf as a backup.

@Alt_Human HAL says "I'm sorry Dave, I can't answer that."
My team has a work request form in Confluence that automatically spins up a Jira story and sends a Slack alert when someone submits it.
Now if only we can enhance it to flag the ones that are laugh-out-loud funny.
Recent examples:
* Urgent request. Nothing at all specified.
* Please provide project management services. (We're an Ops/Triage team, not the PMO.)
* Please explain how to request work from your team.
Momma said find a job you love. I say find one that makes you laugh.
@Brisse @status @th3j35t3r And yet the Coso Network Sentiment meter was still positive of neutral. It must have interpreted your criticism as constructive. Helluva AI to get that nuance. 😂
@wideeyedcurious OK, to make sense of my response you need to know that I didn't know the content warning carries through on the reply. I thought you were commenting on *me* being humorous which, on reflection, might happen from time to time but overall odds are probably low.
Now I'm gonna see if I can disable that content warning. Still getting my CoSo legs. 😕

@DBC I grok this.
@Alt_Human No. Saw the headline and thought it might refer to a discovery at Mar-A-Lago. Although, now I think about it, that'd be more about people living in tunnels than caves.
Cool article, though. Thanks for the post!
@Alt_Human In Palm Beach?
Me opening vendor support ticket: We experienced problem 'x' and followed the recovery instructions from the manual. It didn't work, we are still down.
Every vendor on the planet: For problem 'x', follow the recovery instructions in the manual. [Includes link to instructions I said we'd tried]
Someone should make a list of vendors who actually read the ticket. It'd be a short list but popular.
@Brisse Are you skilled enough to do repair/upgrade on 3D printers yourself? I might know of a fixer-upper available cheap.
I make stuff with code and with wood. Just, you know, not at the same time.
