I thought black Milliput would give too much contrast on this carved black limba bowl, but now I'm having serious regrets about the brick color. Wife says it looks great but I think she's trying to make me feel better about it. Going to reserve judgement until final finish but I suspect this one gets chalked up to #woodturning mistakes in the end. Too bad. It was otherwise a very nice piece with a pleasing shape.
@NMWoman Thanks for the feedback. Glad to know the wife isn't the only one. I'll keep an open mind and post pix tomorrow of the finished bowl. That'll be the real test.
@tdotrob I followed you so I can see the FO. It will be interesting to see. I love seeing these kinds of projects.
@NMWoman Thx for the follow, I hope it is worth it. ;-) The bowl's got one coat of sanding sealer so far and I'm hoping to finish it off today. I was thinking a gloss finish might bring out the contrast a bit. Fingers crossed.
@tdotrob Ok, Can't wait to see the FO.
@tdotrob I think the brick color is a subtle contrast. The darker area draws the eye, then the pattern on the lighter section is revealed. I agree with your wife. Looks good, IMO. But, I am not an artist! ha
