I told Rockler "either build a store in Charlotte or stop sending me emails where 1/2 the stuff I want is in store only!"

So they built a store. And I'm taking the credit for it. You're welcome, Charlotte.

@tdotrob , oh, that's trouble. 😉 We have to go about 45 minutes away to get to a Rockler store. We used to go to Woodcraft a little more often than the budget allowed, too, but the nearest one closed.

@LadyZurk Luckily for me, the Woodcraft and Rockler stores are both within a 30 minute drive. We even have a Klingspor store about 90 minutes away. Like the Woodcraft well enough but the Venn diagram of things the two stock has lots of non-overlapping area. And it's nice to have multiple sources for staple items like CA glue.

@tdotrob , yeah, it's frustrating to halt a glue up dead in the water when you thought you had enough G6 or whatever. Zurk has had to order fiberglass and epoxy by mail for his kayaks, but sometimes finds good, less expensive alternatives that way, instead of paying markup on an already pricy product.

@LadyZurk I should probably do a controlled trial on some of the off-brand CA glues. I primarily use them for finishing pens and the investment in the blank and kit are enough to keep me from trying a new glue. But if I turn and some scrap wood, not even use a pen barrel or kit, there's no sunk cost to ignore.

@tdotrob , yeh. We do test pieces when we change glues and epoxy... now. I've had a couple of failures on what I thought were finished cutting boards with wood glue experiments. Zurk mostly makes furniture, countertops and strip kayaks. I mostly whittle flat plane doodles, but have played with low reliefs. The boats in my cover picture are two of his craft.
