I found it amazing that project planners didn't plan for real life events in project plans. I worked on 2 major multi-year IT projects that both lost key players to nervous breakdowns. Team members died or had family members die. Sick kids or elderly parents in the hospital needing help. Extra time off at holidays. If your project plan doesn't include "life happens" time, it's not a plan, it's just wishful thinking.
