Which would be more damaging for the US: that a former president would be in prison after attempting to thwart democracy, or that he'd escape any consequences having attempted to thwart democracy?

How crazy is it that there's a non-zero chance that Trump will flee the country to a state without an extradition treaty?

As a reminder, 1.5 degrees of warming is the tipping point beyond which the effects of flood, drought, and wildfires will cause food shortages, migration and resource wars like we've not seen in our lives.

So I figure that if I don't invest in this stuff, my money will be worthless anyway due to societal collapse.

Trump is running to avoid prison.
Maybe it's just me, but it looks like prison's closing in on Donny's lead.

How wonderfully fitting it'd be if we replaced his portrait in the Whitehouse with one of the sketches from his many appearances before a court of law?

I urge each of you who remains rooted in faith over empiricism to consider the evidence and make a determination of what suits the interests not only of themselves but of the generations to come after us and the cultural undulations we'll each leave for them through our choices and actions today however small.

I go further than opposing the encroachment of faith on the freedom of non-believers in the cause of non-believers alone. Whether someone is drowning in ignorance or being drowned by the ignorance of others, I should act to save all those drowning unless that was their true will and that their drowning comes without harm to others.

Lisa here is wondering why she shit herself after sitting in a in a hot bath of Borax, baking soda and road de-icer for an hour and a half while drinking laxative...??

Outstanding.

In the coming weeks and months we'll get to see whether it makes a difference if you're carrying Diet Coke for fascists instead of water.

Walt must be bricking it right now.

While I'd love to think that the recent climate change related tornados, fires, floods, and heat domes would challenge the remaining climate deniers, I suspect they might just pivot to being climate doomers who'll say it's too late to change.

Anything that absolves them of the need to change.

As we approach independence day here in the US, I'm thankful that I live in a country with a constitution that enshrines my right to burn or desecrate as many holy books or flags as I want to under the 1st amendment.

That number is zero. I'm still thankful, because it's important that the country I live in doesn't value the feelings of a mob of religious zealots over my freedom.... unless they're Christian zealots. Then I'm out of luck with this Supreme Court.

Happy 4th.

Why do Putin's military leaders look like they were the life models for Gerry Anderson's marionettes in Thunderbirds?

What if the state of our world could be explained by showing you where you sit on a bell curve of human credulity?

From climate denial to acceptance of religious claims, what if the reason for it all persisting in our world all became so crystal clear to you the moment it was pointed out to you that there's only so many people in the world with an epistemological framework that functions more reliably than the one you have?

I'm in terror just thinking about that.

People with reasoning abilities like this vote in large numbers.

So please vote in every election, even if that means voting for the least worst candidate.

I had no idea that under German law if you accept an inheritance you must also accept responsibility for legal claims against the deceased.

I wish we had that here in the USA.

What a game changer it could be for malfeasance in this country.
