I have an issue with this NPR piece.

There's no enforcement mechanism for the Supreme Court ethics standards.

The article does mention this, but not in the headline. Given how few readers get past a headline, that's significant in how it shapes the electorate.

NPR is one of those institutions that I appreciate the need to contribute to, but they keep coming up short with shit like this. Would they be better if I donated, or would they just do more subpar journalism?

Not that we were buds over Israel before the attacks on innocent civilians in Gaza, but if you're in favor of those attacks, we ain't buds.

I mean, I'll settle for a Newsome one, but it's not looking like the American public are happy with a second Biden term.

Trump is facing a string on felony charges and a 14th amendment issue that could keep him from the CO ballot, but he's still out-polling Biden.

Fuuuuuuuck.

Could really do with a Liz Warren presidency right now.

You can always count on Lindsey to have the least humane position on these matters.

What a colossal bell end he is.

Anyone want to take a bet on whether their treatment of the child was based upon their biblical world view?

Also, please invest your 401k in decarbonizing the economy. Look at it this way, if it doesn't pay out handsomely, only a few people will still be alive to laugh at your decision. And they'll be too busy envying the dead.

There's a non-zero chance that within the next 24 hours, Trump is going to angrily call his first-born a radical leftist.

Fuck it. Thwaites glacier is melting and COP28 is being chaired by an unapologetic petrostate, so let's just enjoy these little gifts while we can still enjoy things.

I wonder how Jenna's sense of joy is doing today. Never mind. I'm sure her faith will save her from consequences.

I can't support people who are comfortable killing other people because their religion allows them to see a place as divinely theirs or others as intrinsically evil.

What's more galling is the flight tracker shows that it's not actually been canceled. It's just that they've canceled my place on it.

Hard not to take that personally.

With under 24 hours until takeoff, ba.com have just canceled the flight I'd booked months ago to get to my Dad's 80th birthday in Scotland.

What a shower of cunts they are.

Faith-based beliefs lend the patina of legitimacy to the bulldozing of someone's home just as readily as they do the slaughter of concert attendees.

It's faith that's the problem. It's not a path to the truth. It's not a virtue.

Who will step up to be the adult in the room in a party that hates the adults in the room?

Surely a thankless task.

Every time Jerome Powell talks about interest rate policy direction as "higher for longer", there's a part of me that thinks "like edibles" and that makes me smile.

When I'm high, I get hung up on these things. What are the presumably many and varied uses of a comb that I'm unaware of?

What are those things, and how did they prevent this comb from simply being described as 'comb'?

AI-Assisted Language Translation of Speaking, Including Mouth Movements.

Ok, this is a little bit bonkers: HeyGen's Video Translate tool will convert videos of people speaking into videos of them speaking one of several different languages (incl. English, Spanish, Hindi, and French) with matching mouth movements.
