A little piece of advice from experience. Don't discuss politics with people doing work for you.
When Obama won the first time, I had a contractor who was finishing up some remodeling work shortly after the election. His last bill was 3x what I expected. He inflated it b/c he didn't like that I was an Obama voter. Threatened to use a collection agency. Then reduced the amount and took me to small claims court. There he accepted half that $, which was what the final bill should have been.

What was especially cruel was he served me with the court papers via a uniformed sheriff. At the time, my son was stationed in the middle east. I saw the officer approach the house with papers in his hand, and my heart dropped. I was afraid of the worst news.
