🤔 It's disorienting to be in Niagara County and have a hurricane smell in the air.

Thoughts with all dealing with the aftereffects.

I've only been through one, David in '79 living in a trailer. It was a Cat 1 that stayed off coast of Daytona. It was enough for me.

Lived Hurricane Alley on St Croix for 7 yrs.

Unforgettable anxiety.

@LnzyHou @slapout

It’s especially anxiety producing to live on an island which can be hit with hurricanes. You can’t just load up your car and go to another state.

When I lived in Hawaii, we had a couple of really close hurricane calls, where the hurricane wobbled at the last minute to miss land and we were completely powerless. I sure understand that sort of anxiety 😬

Folks think it’s valuable you have days to prepare. It’s not. It is an exercise in stocking your house & tamping down your ever-increasing anxiety.

By the time the storm lands, you’re almost grateful it will be over.

Sounds bizarre I know.

@LnzyHou @evamarie

I get it. I lived in Tornado Alley for years, and you don't have the time a hurricane gives to agonize over what to do.

@slapout @LnzyHou @evamarie I moved out of FL this year & still experienced anxiety on behalf of my friends. And now I can't reach my family in SC, which wasn't on my hurricane bingo card.

Sending good karma to everyone impacted. It seems each hurricane brings new "firsts".

My heart is broken. Only a couple weeks since Asheville was my home.

Sleepless in NJ.
