I learned to "ride the wave" when my dad died in 1998, granted accepting the wave took a few years. I still have moments where something reminds me of him and I feel punched in the gut but I sit in the moment and let it come and then bring up the good memories.

Going through my images, as I always do when I'm grieving, and found this shot from 2012.

Though I end up crying my heart out as I search for photos of those who have passed away and were a part of my life it comforts me to see their life laid out in front of me and to know I got the opportunity to capture the memories.
