@ceorl @Alfred …unable to bookmark replies is something I am finding a bit of a struggle. That’s something which has helped me a ton on Twitter, Mastodon and Spoutible when it comes to time keeping up with people’s responses, especially if I know I can’t answer right there and then. 🙂🙃💖💙 Xxxx

I missed bookmark-like likes, and full text searches at first too, but I have come to see these little differences between CoSo and other platforms as kind of brilliant ways of keeping us in the present.

Your notifications column works pretty well for keeping track of responses to you, or mentions of you, but it is no big deal if you miss some things.

I feel kind of liberated from my "permanent record" here ;)

@ceorl True, I think I’m just going to have to get into the habit of checking the “mentions” section when it comes to replies I haven’t yet answered on here. If a bookmarks feature gets added, great, but if not, I guess at least there’s a workaround. 🙂 Are there any other differences with CoSo and other platforms you’ve noticed? And yes, it’s nice to feel liberated, I agree, but as I’m not someone who actively goes out of my way to ghost people, I prefer to reply when I can, even if it may take

And yes, the notifications work great. The All category includes everything of course, but it can help to specifically check things like Follows or Mentions to make sure you haven't missed anything you care about.

If you are on a PC, you can even allow CoSo to send you system notifications for instant alerts. I don't choose to do that though, as I prefer to just check when I am moved to do so :)

Filters are used by most of us heavily, removing any content from our feeds if it contains words we simply don't want to be annoyed by.

My filter list is fairly long. So I simply don't see things people post if it includes words I can live without.

It is all about curating our own experiences here, and avoiding conflict.

Ah, since you mention "ghosting" as being a rude thing, that might be an expectation to adjust here.

We are actually encouraged to mute or block anyone for any reason if they are not enhancing our experience at the moment, e.g. too much politics, sports, word puzzles, murders or whatever else you are not enjoying.

Give it some time and you will notice which folks are stuck on broadcast, and which are more conversational.

Nobody owes anyone a response here though.☮️ ✌️

Using hashtags will help more with that. I saw that you use the app...I mostly do as well (android) so a lot of the features are not available that way. The firehose is the icon all the way to the left (where you see everything), then who you follow is to the right of that, and then notifications. Have fun!

@mightymite Yeah, I’m finding the desktop version a bit too overwhelming to understand tbh. That’s why I’m using the app, but it’s a bit of a blow a lot of features aren’t available this way. @rosielebontennant I could be wrong, but I don't think you can follow hashtags on the app. You find them by using the search and a #, but I think on the desktop version you can follow. Thanks and enjoy your weekend!

@rosielebontennant I have to admit, I found the desktop version overwhelming at first, too, so I haven't taken the time to learn the ins and outs yet. Plus, I don't sit at my desk to use it much. I just hop on the app when I can. Sorry, I can't answer that, but yes, I think pinning is the same as following. And in answer to your other question, I plan on relaxing! It's been a long week and I spent all of last weekend in the car! Ugh. What are your plans?

@rosielebontennant @th3j35t3r I try to keep things simple here. The little shapes at the top are different columns. One thing you can customize. One can choose what columbs they keep at the top best i know. I usually stick to these two. The friends column, folks i follow. And the community firehouse. Its like two separate twitter feeds.

One that shows everyones posts, friends or not = firehouse > teal arrow🩵

And one that shows only friends posts! = Friends >purple arrow 💜
