@desbearado @OracleSpirit Yes, eventually, but my Dad is going to be so much harder.

If I can bring my sister out, then I'm hoping we both can help my Dad and Mom.

@OracleSpirit How do I know they won't?

I was MAGA. A lot of my family is MAGA, some of them are Q.

Anyone who isn't MAGA is believed to be the enemy, including me, who is now seen as a traitor by my own because I left MAGA.

You think they're going to reach out to who they believe to be the enemy?

My friends kept reaching out to me, no matter how obnoxious I was. It worked. Now I'm reaching out to my sister, and I'm making progress.

Hands off will never ever ever work.

@OracleSpirit @MindfulWilliam Yeah.

That'll never work when you're dealing with MAGA members.

@OracleSpirit They are NEVER going to reach out.

To believe they will is "hubris".

@DocLaing Welcome to CoSo! 👋

Take a seat by the cozy campfire!

@MindfulWilliam @OracleSpirit We don't need to save the world.

We just need to do our part to save our own pieces of it.

And maybe through that, we can save the world.

@OracleSpirit Not anywhere have I said to force yourself in.

Every time I have spoken about this I have said connect with them on home, family, pets, daily struggles, and humanize with each other first and foremost.

@MeditatorMom A few days ago in my posts here, I gave a pretty deep explanation of how I got into MAGA and how I got out, the red bubble, the information prison, and how I'm working on saving my sister first, and then hopefully my family.

I've been trying to compile it more on a bog so I can point to it, but it's a lot to read.

@OracleSpirit Yeah, and that's exactly why MAGA is growing.

Because people go, "Oh well, not problem, not my responsibility" until it becomes big enough to be your problem, but by that time it's far too late for you.

@OracleSpirit They are not going to see it if you're not involved their life to show it.

This whole hands-off take you have does not work.

@OracleSpirit And who do you think is going to lead them if you choose to demonize all of them?

@kbresist No, but I do really like the waving lunatic method.

@carver_hudson If you can't distinguish between the leaders and the victims of a dangerous cult, and can't save those people from it, you will have an even bigger problem because the cult will continue to grow in size.

The masses give them power because they take power from the masses.

We need to give the power back to the masses so they don't feel powerless enough to be preyed on.

A few years ago, I would have been calling nearly every single one of you disgusting communists who want to destroy America.

People can change.
People do change.

And I think about this every time I get yelled at by Dad. If insults and arguments and shouting and heated angry words and hot tempered emotions are the only things stopping me from trying to save my family from MAGA, what kind of person would that make me?

We either stand for something or sit for nothing, even if it's our family.

One of the most important things I've learned from personal experience:

If you want to save people from a cult, you don't accuse them of the same crimes as the cult leaders.

You first understand how they are being victimized, you treat them as people, you connect with their humanity, and then and only then can you have any hope of saving them from the cult.

Remember, they have been told by people they trust YOU are the enemy. If you go in with guns blazing, you're just proving the point.

@sandyknauer @kel Do you know that when you're inside the information prison you really don't see the fascism?

Some Republicans are all in, because it is their end goal to have power and control.

You see it, because you have an easier time navigating a world of information.

But many are victims of the red bubble. And it's difficult for people outside that bubble to understand what happens inside that bubble.

@kel My grandparents are the perfect example of this.

They are very rural Republicans. They putter around their farm all day thinking they still need to take care of it.

They don't know how to turn on a VCR let alone a computer, and their TV is only on if grandkids are there.

But they are reliable Republican voters, it's a traditional as they celebrate Christmas.

The only thing they know about Trump is his name and he was president and my parents told them he's good for them.

@kel I agree with this.

I know it comes off as a "not all Republicans" thing, but there's people stuck in there who are so wrapped up in the information prison who can be saved, if we can reach them. When we stop trying that is when they become lost because nobody is looking.

There's another bunch who are just not really paying attention. They wake up, vote, go sleep, and repeat as tradition. They don't really watch TV or use much social media. Or even know how to use it, even.

When you declare that "all Republicans are fascists" or lean heavily on other divisive political stereotypes, you are directly helping the fascists who leverage division to achieve their ends.

You're erasing the humanity from the evil ideas that they suggest, while substantially over-inflating their numbers. You're turning what would be an 80/20 issue into a 50/50 issue.

Maybe knock that shit off. It is *insanely* counterproductive.
