My sister just called and tried to wish me a Happy Thanksgiving:
She tried to get my parents to talk to me.
My Dad was in the background yelling at her to hang up and "stop talking to the communist traitor" and yelling loudly "stay in Germany with the rest of the Nazi's if you hate being in America so much you dumb bxxxx".
This is the man who taught me to ride a bike, ride a horse, shoot a gun, drive a car, look after my siblings, and love myself. 😞
I go home in a few weeks.
I'm scared.

Family is very important to me, even in the middle of all this.
I need to make sure my sister and brother don't become like my parents.
I need them to see me and to hear me and hug me and know I'm still a real person in their lives and not just a voice on the phone or text on a screen.
The connection is so so important.
