My sister just called and tried to wish me a Happy Thanksgiving:
She tried to get my parents to talk to me.
My Dad was in the background yelling at her to hang up and "stop talking to the communist traitor" and yelling loudly "stay in Germany with the rest of the Nazi's if you hate being in America so much you dumb bxxxx".
This is the man who taught me to ride a bike, ride a horse, shoot a gun, drive a car, look after my siblings, and love myself. 😞
I go home in a few weeks.
I'm scared.

@scotinus And I know he truly doesn't mean a word of it, but it still hurts.
@quinnsentialOne That's true and good to hear. They're just playing a role and acting to an identity. I have some of this in my family too but not as severe.
